This is a redevelopment of parts of MMR to provide a quick way to edit
the screens that control GT. Like MMR, it is best used in conjunction
with an editor supporting multiple files. Development testing has been
performed with Qedit from Semware (available on most GT boards) but
it should work with any good editor that handles plain text ASCII files
and will accept multiple filenames on its command line.
Note : the sample GT.DIR file provided in the ZIP is intended for UK
users, who will need to set the * dial prefix to 0.
If overseas users wish to use the sample GT.DIR, they should
set the * dial prefix to their own international access code
followed by 44. Most likely they will want to scrap it and
create their own.
If a GT.DIR already exists, PKZIP will not overwrite it in the
installation batch.

This is a beta test copy. It may be given to anybody who has a use for
it, but please watch out for a few points
a) The .MDM files need testing and are not guaranteed correct.
(I also need more .MDM files if anybody can find the time).
b) All the text files are likely to be revised at various times
during beta testing. If you find any significant errors, please
let me know. Much as I would like think they are complete and
fully correct - most of you want the information now, not next
year when it would be obsolete anyway.
c) GT-Help should create all appropriate BBS files in the BBS path, if
it is configured in GT.CNF and the directory exists, otherwise
it will create them in the GTPATH.
If you find GT-Help puts any files into the BBS path which GT does
not allow, or fails to find a .BBS file in whichever directory you
have created it, please let me know.
d) The LAN help file is untested, and likely to be revised in the
near future.

GT-HELP does not require registration, though a donation of £5 sterling
will be welcome if you find the program useful.
This program is useful only with GT Power from P&M Software, which you are
encouraged to register as described in the GT docs.
You may make the original GT-Help ZIP files available for download, and may
edit the help files for your own personal use.
In addition:

You are welcome to use extracts from the help files when answering
questions from your users or in GT echos.
To avoid confusion, if you wish to distribute edited help files or
additional modem configurations, please do so in a separate volume and
identify yourself in it as the source of the information.
You may also, if you wish, put copies of GT-Help on to floppies supplied by
users of your bulletin board, or by other personal contacts, provided that
the charge if any does not exceed the actual cost of return postage.

a) If you already have GT installed :
It is wise to keep a safe copy of any GT files you have
previously customised. This will mainly be :
GT.CNF and GT.DIR
The .BBS and .CBS files in the GTPATH directory
The bulletins
Create a \hlp subdirectory in your GT directory and unzip
all the GT-HELP.ZIP files into it. Move GTH.EXE into the
DOS path and all should be OK.
b) If you are installing GT and GT-HELP from scratch :
You can use GT-INST.BAT to install GT (or GR) and GT-HELP.
Running GT-INST without arguments will describe what
arguments to use.
If GT-INST is terminated prematurely, it is normally OK to restart
it. If your system clock works correctly, newer files will usually
not be overwritten - but it is wise to take a fresh copy of any
files which you have already customised before restarting
installation.

Rev 0.35 - 10th November 1990
-----------------------------
Changed the BBS path search so BBS files will be found whether they're in
the GTPATH or the BBS path.
Changed the GT-INST.BAT file to understand that the zip file is named
GTH-035.ZIP rather than GT-HELP.ZIP.
Fixed some combinations that did not work properly in the colour
selection menu.
Rev 0.34 - 23rd August 1990
---------------------------
Updated the GT-INST.BAT file to work with GT files distributed in .LZH
format.
The Modem Selection was adding blank lines into the GT.CNF file. It didn't
affect anything, since GT ignores them, but looks odd. It doesn't do that
any more.
Rev 0.33 - 17th August 1990
---------------------------
a) When selecting a modem :
Hotkeys are provided on the modem list.
The old GT.CNF can be saved into GTCNVSAV.nnn
(where nnn is 000 thru 999).
b) Added menu entries for LAN path and chat.
c) Small changes to door and bulletin menus.
c) Most text files revised.
Rev 0.31 - 3rd August 1990
--------------------------
Corrected the path search for BBS files on systems which had no BBS path
configured.
In autostart (/W) operation, any batch file (ie, not necessarily HOST.BAT)
can be started.
